On Tuesday the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) published an alert for customers of Chattanooga-based “accounting firm” JD Frost & Company, also known as Croft & Frost, also known as a nuclear dumpster fire wearing a ratty T-shirt with the words “TOTALLY REAL ACCOUNTING FIRM” sloppily screen-printed on it.
The alert, which was shared by both TDCI and the Tennessee Board of Accountancy, advises clients how to proceed now that JD Frost & Company/Croft & Frost/Dumpster Fire PLLC is no more.
Immediate Actions: If you have any ongoing financial transactions or impending deadlines, consider consulting with another CPA or CPA firm to ensure matters are handled as timely as possible. License verification can be performed at verify.tn.gov
Records: Endeavor to obtain any personal or business records, files, or documents from the firm. CPAs and CPA firms have an obligation to provide certain records. [Ed. note: good luck getting records out of this place, this dude’s license is toast so we suspect he won’t be too concerned with meeting the above expectation]
Stay Informed: Keep abreast of any communications from JD Frost & Company, Croft & Frost and/or Jonathan Frost, which may provide further instructions or updates on the status of their closure.
Filing a Complaint: If you believe you have been adversely affected or harmed by the practices or the closure of JD Frost & Company, Croft & Frost and/or Jonathan D. Frost, we encourage you to file a complaint with the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy at core.tn.gov. Complaints can assist us in taking appropriate regulatory actions and help protect the rights and interests of Tennessee citizens.
Affected consumers should consider consulting a private attorney to determine their rights as a consumer and whether further legal action is necessary in regard to their specific complaint.

Just in case you need it, JD Frost’s Tennessee Certified Public Accountant license number is 21324 and expires December 31, 2024. J.D. Frost & Company, PLLC is an active registered accounting firm through December 31, 2023, license number 4023. Clients past and present should definitely file complaints as recommended above, the state has plenty to nail Frost and the firm for at this point but every additional piece of evidence documenting the buffoonery helps them solidify a case.
