If someone were to say, “BDO is fucking clown shoes,” he or she wouldn’t be wrong. And it’s not because of the firm’s horrendous auditing of late. It’s because a BDO USA digital advisory business will soon be based in “The House That Ronald Built.”
On Nov. 10 Crain’s Chicago Business reported:
The billionaire hair-care mogul who bought the vacant, former McDonald’s corporate campus in Oak Brook [Illinois] in 2019 has landed his first new office tenant, a deal his venture hopes will validate the longtime home of the Golden Arches as a destination for other companies.
BDO Digital, a tech consulting arm of accounting and advisory firm BDO USA, has signed a lease for 28,000 square feet at 2715 Jorie Blvd. in Oak Brook, according to a statement from the company and the property’s owner, a venture of John Paul Mitchell Systems co-founder John Paul DeJoria.
BDO becomes the first office user of a nearly 100,000-square-foot building that housed McDonald’s Hamburger University training center for three decades until the fast-food giant moved its home in 2018 to the Fulton Market District. The Jorie Boulevard property is one of three buildings on the 80-acre campus, which a DeJoria venture bought in 2019 for $40 million.
BDO USA launched BDO Digital in January 2020, which provides middle-market companies with such services as:
- Digital strategy
- Data analytics and insights
- Change management
- IT outsourcing
- Governance, risk and compliance
- Privacy and cybersecurity
- Cloud and technology solutions
- Application development
According to Crain’s, BDO Digital will relocate its main office to the former Hamburger U. late next year from a nearby building at 1420 Kensington Rd. in Oak Brook.
