Today’s edition of “Big 4-on-Big 4 Poaching From Around the World” takes us to Romania, where EY has put everyone in that country on notice now that it just hired a tax specialist away from PwC and made her a partner.
Georgiana Iancu now has a seat at the adult table:
[Translated to English] Georgiana Iancu is the new Partner of the Tax and Legal Assistance team, within the indirect tax department of EY Romania. In this role, Georgiana will focus on the development of the indirect tax practice, as well as on the extension of EY Romania’s footprint on the local market, through the organizational transformation of the department and the diversification of consultancy services offered.
Georgiana was involved in a series of consulting, tax review and structuring projects, as well as in the development of tools and procedures for the prevention of VAT fraud. She also successfully assisted several local and international companies during the tax inspections initiated by the Romanian tax authorities, as well as in the tax appeal process. Her experience covers a wide range of industries, such as retail and FMCG, real estate, energy and automotive.
In the VAT area, having an in-depth knowledge of European VAT legislation, she was involved in various initiatives that led to changes in Romanian legislation.
So, PwC Romania is losing some firepower in the areas of VAT, tax advisory, and international tax. But P. Dubs’ loss is EY’s gain.
Iancu had two stints with PwC. She started her career in tax as a tax consultant at PwC in 2006, according to her LinkedIn profile. She left in 2011 as a senior tax consultant, going to Taxhouse – Taxand Romania where she would spend the next four years as a senior manager before going back to PwC.
I don’t see a round 3 in her future.
