Hiring Company:
CPA firm is seeking a REMOTE Accounting Specialist (FT or PT), to join their growing team and provide customers with opportunity, peace of mind, and inspiration by managing their finances, bookkeeping, payroll, and reporting.

Location: REMOTE within the US
Compensation: $60,000- $65,000 DOE
 
Responsibilities:
70% direct customer accounting and tax work:

  • Maintain schedules related to ongoing customer bookkeeping, reconciliation work, and current status.
  • Guide back office accounting and provide payroll support for select customers throughout the year.
  • Use Xero accounting software to maintain customer books and records.
  • Ensure tax trial balance setup and reporting with the Tax Team to provide a clean, year-end trial balance.
  • Prepare clean, well-organized, year-end supporting workpapers (bookmarked), and coordinate with the Tax Team for any updates based on tax adjustments, if necessary.
  • Onboard new payroll tax customers.
  • Navigate and plan payroll processing workflow schedules and communication with customers.

 
15% training and personal development:

  • Understand and implement key Xero add-on software integrations, while serving as a resource to help other team members improve their accounting workflow.
  • Research payroll tax filing requirements for other states using Gusto onboarding tools or other online research tools.
  • Work confidently with various computer software programs.

 
15% team collaboration and communication:

  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal team members to clarify needs, resolve bank and payroll issues, and address other questions and issues.
  • Coordinate with Customer Advocates to identify and communicate key financial metrics for customers.
  • Collaborate with the Tax Team on sales tax reporting and tax calculations.

 
Markers of Success:
You will know you’re succeeding in this role when:

  • You are successfully managing 30-50 customers books, payroll and reporting.
  • You have developed expertise in an additional specialist category (reporting, software, payroll, research).
  • 90% of monthly recordkeeping and reporting functions are completed by the 15th of each month.
  • 95% of Karbon work items are updated weekly with notes in comments sections for customer-unique issues that come up.
