Job Title: Remote Tax Supervisor
Location: Remote, Maryland (Remote Based)

A modern CPA firm is seeking a RemoteTax Manager to ensure the accounting teams are spending minimal time on tax tasks such as preparing tax returns and estimates, inputting Proconnect data, tax planning, and addressing notices/audits so they can focus on financial reporting and analysis.

The challenge is understanding the requirements and tax implications for multiple clients with different circumstances, such as ownership structures, profitability, jurisdiction, etc., and managing a heavy workload from January through April. The goal is to get tax returns to the Director of Tax that are [mostly] ready for signature and be able to address tax questions/issues/planning without involving the Director of Tax or Controllers. Therefore, the Tax Manager must be comfortable with:

  • Pass-through entity taxes
  • understanding distribution waterfalls and allocations in partnerships
  • state taxes
  • tax estimates
  • guaranteed payments vs distributions
  • reasonable compensation
  • entity selection planning, and
  • other typical small business tax topics we deal with.

 
They must also be comfortable managing a team and delegation so they can focus on review and tax planning.

Requirements:

  • CPA
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting or equivalent preferred
  • Very confident and comfortable with learning new technology
  • Strong organizational skills

Duties and Role:

  • Review Federal and State partnership, S-corp, and C-corp income tax returns and personal property tax returns for our monthly accounting clients
  • Occasionally prepare Federal and State partnership, S-corp, and C-corp income tax returns and personal property tax returns for our monthly accounting clients.
  • Quarterly tax analysis and planning
