Compensation: $120,000- $150,000 DOE
 
The firm is seeking a knowledgeable, take-charge personality to lead the accounting department. This position will supervise other team members, run the operation of the accounting department, assist with technical work, and assist management with determining the needs of their department. There is room for growth in this position with a partnership track to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Development: Direct and oversee a team of tax professionals, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Conduct regular training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Workflow Management: Design and implement efficient tax workflows to streamline processes and ensure timely and accurate tax compliance and reporting.
  • Operational Strategy: Develop strategic operational plans for the tax department that align with the company’s overall business objectives.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage the allocation of resources and staff to optimize productivity and meet departmental goals within budgetary constraints.
  • Performance Management: Monitor team performance against standards and objectives, providing feedback and coaching to ensure all team members are achieving their potential.
  • Process Improvement: Continually assess and refine tax processes and systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Client Contact: Work with clients in the healthcare industry and other personal service industries to keep their accounting records up to date and accurate.
    • Handle client communications through the use of portal messaging, telephone, and video conferencing
    • Prepare individual and business returns with multiple states, mostly 1065, 1120S; some 1120 and 1041s
    • Assist with accounting and bookkeeping to maintain clean books
    • Prepare tax projections
    • Respond to inquiries from tax authorities
    • Tax research for client issues

Qualifications

  • We are looking for a candidate with 7+ years of experience in a public accountant role and at least 2 years of experience in a management role. Preferred candidates have a current CPA license and a master’s degree in an accounting discipline.
  • Experience with medical professionals desired but not required
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online, Gusto, Excel, and Google Sheets
  • Excellent communication skills with team members and clients
  • Must have a take-charge, get things done attitude
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations.
  • Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
  • Solid financial accounting background and understanding of financial statements (GAAP)
  • Strong experience with a variety of accounting operations and ability to drive process improvements.
  • Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks and the tasks of other team members.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with clients and team members
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
